Privacy Policy — Sayad app
Last updated: October 18, 2026
This policy explains what data the "Sayad" app collects, how we use and protect it, and your rights. The app is available worldwide and we give every user the same high level of protection, modelled on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), while complying with the data protection laws that apply in each user's country.
1. Data controller
- Developer: Sayad Apps (developer of the Sayad app on Google Play)
- Contact: by email only at support.sayad@gmail.com
2. Data we collect and why
- Account data: name, email, city, fishing level and profile photo (optional). With Google sign-in we receive your name, email and account identifier. Purpose: to create and run your account.
- Precise location: only while you use the app and with your permission (no background tracking). Purpose: local weather and tides, nearest spots, and the place of your catches.
- Fishing diary: species, weight and length (optional), bait, date, place name and coordinates, photo. Purpose: to store your catches and sync them across your devices. Diary photos are kept in private storage that only you can see.
- Community content: posts, photos, videos, comments, likes and follows. This content is public: every app user can see it together with your name and city.
- Suggestions: spots and shops you suggest, made public after review.
- Fish identification photos: the photo is sent to Google Gemini for analysis; we do not keep it.
- Reports and blocks: reports you send and the list of users you blocked. Purpose: to moderate and protect the community.
- Advertising: Google AdMob collects the device advertising ID, IP address and device information to show and measure ads. In Europe, the UK and Switzerland, personalised ads are only shown with your consent.
- Analytics and crash reports: Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics collect an app instance identifier on your device, usage events, device model and OS, and crash details. Purpose: to improve the app and fix bugs. This data is linked to a device identifier and is not fully anonymous.
- Notifications: a notification token (FCM) to send the alerts you turned on.
- Subscription: payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your card details; we only receive the purchase token and subscription status.
- Consent log: the date and version of your acceptance of the terms, the community rules and your marketing choices, to prove consent.
- In-app marketing: we use your city, fishing level and in-app activity (such as the species you catch and the features you use) to group users into segments and suggest offers and content that suit you inside the app.
- Marketing messages: by email or notification, only if you agree. You can turn them off at any time.
- Sayad ads on other platforms: only if you turn this option on, we send your email address hashed (SHA-256) to Meta (Facebook, Instagram) and Google to show you our ads there or to reach anglers like you. We never send your name, location or content.
- Partner offers: we may show or send offers from fishing shops and brands. We send them ourselves and do not give your data to these partners.
We remove hidden EXIF metadata (including GPS coordinates and phone model) from photos you upload or send for analysis. Video files may contain location data we cannot remove; avoid posting a video that reveals a place you want to keep private.
3. Legal bases
- Performance of the service you asked for (account, diary, community, subscription).
- Your consent (location, personalised ads, marketing messages, ads on other platforms, notifications), which you can withdraw at any time.
- Legitimate interest (app security, moderation, bug fixing, and segmenting users to suggest in-app offers). You can object by emailing us.
- Legal obligations, where applicable.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We use service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Supabase: database, storage and sign-in.
- Google: Firebase (analytics, crashes, notifications), AdMob (ads), Gemini (image analysis), Google Maps and Places (maps and shop data), Google Play (payments) and Google sign-in.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): turning coordinates into place names and searching places. Coordinates or search text are sent.
- Open-Meteo: weather and marine data. Only coordinates are sent.
- Meta and Google Ads: only for users who accepted ads on other platforms. Only the hashed email is sent.
- Email marketing service: if we use a sending service, it only receives the email of users who accepted marketing messages, and processes it on our behalf.
We may disclose data where required by law or requested by a competent judicial authority.
5. International transfers
These providers' servers may be located outside your country (Europe, the United States or elsewhere). Transfers are covered by the safeguards required by applicable law, including standard contractual clauses and the data processing terms these providers commit to.
6. Retention
- Account, diary and content: as long as your account exists or until you delete them.
- After account deletion: erased within 30 days at most, backups included.
- Spots and shops approved after your suggestion: kept in the app without any link to your name.
- Reports: up to 12 months for moderation purposes.
- Data held by Google (analytics, ads, crashes): according to Google's retention periods.
7. Your rights
You may access, correct and delete your data, object to its processing, withdraw your consent and obtain a copy. Users in Europe also have the rights to restriction and portability.
- Delete your account: in the app: Profile → "Delete my account", or through the account deletion page on our website.
- Ads: Profile → "Ad privacy options" (where required by law), or in your phone's Google settings.
- Marketing: Profile → "Marketing preferences" to turn off emails, notifications or ads on other platforms, or use the unsubscribe link in any message.
- Other requests: email support.sayad@gmail.com from the address on your account. We reply within 30 days.
- Complaints: to the data protection authority of your country.
- Additional rights in your country: if your local law gives you additional rights (for example some US state laws), you can exercise them by emailing us, and we will not discriminate against you for doing so. We do not sell your data, and you can turn off personalised ads in your phone's privacy settings or via "Ad privacy options".
8. Phone permissions
- Location: local weather, nearby spots and catch location. Never used in the background.
- Camera and photos: photographing catches, identifying fish and posting.
- Magnetic sensor: compass and Qibla direction.
- Notifications and run at startup: the fishing-time reminders you turned on.
9. Minors
The app is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you learn that a minor created an account, contact us to delete it.
10. Security
Encrypted connections (HTTPS), access rules that stop each user from reaching anyone else's data, and private storage for diary photos. No system is perfectly secure; if an incident affects your data we will inform you and the competent authority as the law requires.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. For any significant change we will notify you in the app before it takes effect and update the date above.
